Welcome to FRIENDS OF SEATON HACKNEY, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Our mission is to provide support and enhancement to the equine assisted therapy program at Seaton Hackney Stables. We invite you to join the Friends of Seaton Hackney community in serving the determined special needs children and adults, along with the gentle well-trained horses who nurture and inspire them in their endeavors.
Friends of Seaton Hackney is proud to support the vibrant equine assisted therapy program offered at Seaton Hackney Stables. Under the direction of experienced, specialized instructors the program is dedicated to providing equine assisted therapy for individuals with special needs and to helping them improve their physical, emotional and mental well-being, resulting in better social integration. The program is open to children and adults in an inclusive and supportive environment that ensures that all have the opportunity to experience the well-documented benefits of both therapeutic riding and therapeutic equine ground experiences. Each participant's instruction and activity is individually curated with the program directors to meet their abilities and personal goals. The carefully selected and trained horses are friendly, gentle and nonjudgmental and students develop very special and mutually enjoyed relationships with their four-footed partners.

(ASK YOUR EMPLOYER ABOUT A MATCHING DONATION)

While the program is called therapeutic riding, it does not exclude those physically unable to do so. Special unmounted sessions ensure that they too can reap the benefits of equine interaction, affection and a special bond with the horses.
Leslie has Rett’s Syndrome, a progressive condition causing regression of all motor and verbal skills. She has been a participant since 2024. Her Mom's testimonial says it best: "Leslie is a beautiful soul locked inside of her own body. Although unable to communicate, it’s obvious from the smile on her face how much she loves and thrives being around horses. Every time she is with them her face lights up. Her interaction and love of the horses is mutual as they give the love she deserves right back. The benefits of her therapeutic sessions are priceless, and we would like to spread this amazing experience to others like Leslie." By sharing her story with family, friends and social media contacts, Leslie's Mom encouraged many to join her in supporting Friends of Seaton Hackney by making tax-deductible gifts in Leslie's honor.

Daisy is a little sweetheart. She has a simple and gentle way of interacting with every client she meets. It is as if she knows exactly what each and every person needs from her at all times and always creates a positive experience

Pumba is the smallest of the team. He is a little circus pony and full of personality. He is the perfect match for the youngest students and loves all the attention they give to him.

Izzy is an icon in the stable. The prettiest girl you will ever meet with a Heart of Gold. She is able to be matched with any student with her calm and steady nature.

Bob is the barn mascot. The oldest and wisest of our horses, he can be matched with anyone. Bob works with students ranging from children to adults as he can adapt to any and all situations. He is calm, gentle, consistent and everyone's best friend

Johnny is one of the sweetest horses you will ever meet. He loves his job and interacting with students. He is a perfect gentleman and a true fan favorite in the barn

Alex spent his summer doing what he loves, working with animals. He was choosen as an OWL, outstanding wild learner at The Wilds program in Ohio, a conservation for endangered animals. He also did Farm Camp and Horse Trails learning about animal care. Alex has a profound love for animals and we are so proud of him and his continued aspiration to be a future vet or zoo keeper.

Kieran is one of the hardest working students you could ever meet. She rises to every challenges with an eagerness and determination to be a better rider each and every week. She is a true joy to teach and comes with the best attitude and the biggest smile on her face. In addition to the barn she also works with animals and we are so lucky to have Kieran love our horses as much as they love her.
